Unicorn Says Series III

Welcome to the Unicorn Says Series.

This month I will share some excerpts from my nonfiction book titled Just A Unicorn. The book was self-published in 2018. It was a passion project that started in 2016. I wrote the book to encourage, educate, and empower. My book can be found on Amazon.com or be purchased at a wonderful store called Work the Metal if you live in the Louisville, Kentucky area.

The first several chapters of my book conclude with Making the Connection Questions. These questions are for the reader to ask themselves. I will include some of these questions throughout the series as well.

My hope is to encourage everyone to actually buy and read the book. I really do hope some of you do. If you do purchase – please let me know in the comments. I would love to hear about it.

Excerpt from Chapter 8 – Meaning of Success

Sprinkle Some Water In Your Own Yard

“Be ready for your opportunity”.

It sounds simple, but it isn’t as simple as it sounds. In theory, you would think everyone would be ready when a good job comes along. The reality is that sometimes an opportunity can come along that sounds good on paper, yet, in reality, it is a different story.

Sometimes we think we are ready because we get excited about a great job opportunity. Yet, the truth is we aren’t. We are still hurt from the failures we made at the last job that didn’t work out. The job opportunity that just came up may be great, but it doesn’t mean you are ready to take that job yet. Sometimes you have to walk away from things when the timing isn’t right. Many times it is not the job itself that is the issue; it is timing.

Making the Connection

(1) Have you experienced what it means to be “ready for your opportunity”?

(2) Has a situation humbled you that made you look at the definition of “success” differently?
