I’m Lisa! I’m a Louisville, Kentucky native.
This blog was created to share my books, writing, and other thoughts. I will state this now: this blog is to educate and entertain. I won’t get political but I do talk about some current issues that are of interest to me. This blog will be a place for discussion, to learn something new, and discover a cool song. The main goal of this blog is to help others heal. Most of the articles in this blog will be related to mental health. Mental health is VERY important to me. It is one of my passions to inform people how to navigate this world with a better understanding of how we think and perceive what is around us.

My background
I originally went to college to study journalism. I did study and almost graduate with a journalism degree before I changed my mind. I transitioned into creative writing. I still use many of my journalism skills in my creative writing.
I have written and self-published four books. I use this blog to talk and promote my books. My first book is nonfiction (Just A Unicorn) and an introduction to me and my writing. The second book (Of Light & Air) was a book of poetry, the third book is a collection of short stories (Open Mind, Ebony Eyes), and my book coming out on November 4, 2022 is a novella called Descent.
I enjoy books, photography, graphic design, music (particularly jazz, soul/R&B, gospel, and alternative rock), movies, puzzles, trivia, video games, art, studying religion and psychology, the Peanuts comic strip, and just to laugh. We can chat anytime about any of the listed topics.

From the Blog
This novella is about a family. A black middle-class family in Louisville Kentucky. It’s about multiple generations in a family with secrets. The novella explores how people in the same family may not always know each other as well as they thought. Do secrets impact different generations? This work of fiction travels down that road full of twists and turns.
The novella was released on Amazon on November 4, 2022. Please check out the playlist because you may discover a new gem. I take a lot of time curating my playlists that feature different genres. The playlist can be found on my Musicality Playlist page.
